Teal in the News

2014 - September
Friday September 5th is "Wear Teal" day, but the whole month is the time to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer.  There are many local chapters of the national organizations (below) as well as independent organizations.  Get out and paint your town teal!

2013 - July
The National Ovarian Cancer Alliance held its annual meeting in Washington DC.  Great strides are being made at the international level to find ways to better diagnose Ovarian Cancer at the earliest stages.

In the mean time, for women who are actively going through cancer treatments and chemotherapy, bring sunshine into their lives by giving to the Lemon Tree Fund, which provides small assistance with helping to pay the insurance copays.....just a little ray of help.

In general,
There are many, many places you can go to get information about Ovarian Cancer, the disease, the treatments, the lifes impacted.....But, when life hands you a "lemon", be sure to give to the LemonTreeFund.  This is a real treat for the woman going through chemotherapy to make her day just a little bit sunnier!  We're not here to solve cancer's riddle, we're not here to take-on the worldwide problems.....Just a drop here and there.

But, the organizations that are doing great things for Ovarian Cancer awareness, diagnosis, treatments, and fundraising include such great organazations as:

The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA):
Now in its 15th year the Ovarian Cancer Alliance,is the foremost advocate for women with ovarian cancer in the United States. To advance the interests of women with ovarian cancer, the Alliance advocates at a national level for increases in research funding for the development of an early detection test, improved health care practices, and life-saving treatment protocols. The OCNA educates health care professionals and raises public awareness of the risks and symptoms of ovarian cancer.

The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC):
The mission of the NOCC is to raise awareness and promote education about ovarian cancer. The Coalition is committed to improving the survival rate and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer. Through national programs and local Chapter initiatives, the NOCC's goal is to make more people aware of the early symptoms of ovarian cancer. In addition, the NOCC provides information to assist the newly diagnosed patient, to provide hope to survivors, and to support caregivers.
